Hello friends! We all know that Teacher Appreciation week is just around the corner! Midge and I think that it is super important to let the teachers know how important they are. Teaching, loving and caring for our children is an important job. When I think of a classroom of 30 students (sometimes more, sometimes less) I have to think WOW, I hope that he/she put their big boy/girl pants on today! I have two children and sometimes there is not enough Diet Coke in the world to keep me from going crazy! LOL!! But common you all know what I mean right? Teachers in my eyes are undercover angels and they really can make the difference in our kids success. Let's talk Teacher gifts now shall we? Expressionery makes it easy! Hello friends! Welcome to the third week of National Craft Month!! Who is ready for this weeks link up? Me, Me Me!! I am so excited! Mixed Media is this weeks theme.
I must say that I love love love mixed media. Many people are confused by what mixed media is, so I am going to give you the Wikipedia definition of Mixed Media. Mixed media, in visual art, refers to an artwork in the making of which more than one medium has been employed. There is an important distinction between "mixed-media" artworks and "multimedia art". Mixed media tends to refer to a work of visual art that combines various traditionally distinctvisual art media. For example, a work on canvas that combines paint, ink, and collage could properly be called a "mixed media" work, but not a work of "multimedia art." The termmultimedia art implies a broader scope than mixed media, combining visual art with non-visual elements (such as recorded sound, for example) or with elements of the other arts (such as literature, drama, dance, motion graphics, music, or interactivity). When creating a painted or photographed work using mixed media it is important to choose the layers carefully and allow enough drying time between the layers to ensure the final work will have structural integrity. If many different media are used it is equally important to choose a sturdy foundation upon which the different layers are imposed. Many effects can be achieved by using mixed media. Found objects can be used in conjunction with traditional artist media to attain a wide range of self-expression. Some children's picture books also utilise mixed media illustrations. For example, 's Nachts by Wolf Erlbruch. Link found HERE. My biggest piece of advice is to have fun, try new things, don't forget to create and enjoy it! Mixed Media does this for me. I have fun, there is no wrong way to do mixed media, if you mess up start over or just keep adding different mediums, this happens to me all of the time. Some of my best projects are mess ups at first then they end up turning into masterpieces. Here is my Mixed Media Project that I am going to share with you. I created this fun Mixed Media Mini Album out of an old book. I created this for Create and Craft for the Tim Holtz Brand. You can check out my blog post HERE
This was super fun to make. I used an old book, Mod Podge, Spritz inks, Washi Tape, Metal Embellishments and more.
Here is Midge's Awesome Mixed Media Project! She also created this for Create and Craft USA. The embellishments that she used are simply adorable and I must say I need this in my house!! What a fun way to do a mixed media marquee.
I love that she painted it gold, and used all of these medal embellishments, seriously isn't this darling?? So freakin cute right???
Show us what you've got friends, link up your mixed media projects below. Winner will be chosen at the end of the month!!
Hello friends! Let's talk Contest! Week twos contest is linking up Scrapbook Layouts! Why Layouts, you may ask? Well if you think about it Scrapbook layouts are VERY IMPORTANT! That is how I started in this crafty universe is by creating fabulous Scrapbook Layouts. There isn't a more heart warming feeling then when you see your kids take the books off of the shelf and go through all of those fun memories that preserved for them. Sometimes they laugh and sometimes they cry. But it sure melts my heart when I see my sweet hubby looking back and remembering the days when our kids were small. This is why I feel like Scrapbook Layouts are important! We would love to hear about your wonderful experiences with Scrapbook Layouts and why they mean so much to you. Be sure to tell us in the comments here after linking up!

Hello friends! Let's talk Contest! Week ones contest is linking up Cards! Why cards, you may ask? Well if you think about it Cards have been given for generations. I remember my Great Grandmother having a drawer full of cards from people that have sent them over the years for Birthdays, Baby Births, Anniversary, Mothers Day, and the list goes on and on.
Cards are important. I used to think "Why make a card when I can just buy one?" WHAT? I think I must have been crazy peeps! Why on earth would I think that? I love getting handmade cards in the mail, so why would I not want to make cards for my family and friends? I honestly thought why would I spend that much time making a card that someone is just going to throw away? But then me having a flash back of my Great Grandma, my Grandma and even my Mom saving the cards in the drawer and me as a little girl pulling them out and looking at how cute they were and how much love came with these cards. My mind changed on the whole card making thing! I love to make cards, and I have a goal starting this month to send a card a week for the rest of the year to my friends and family. They will all be a just because card, letting them know how much they mean to me and how much I love them. How I love our friendship. Don't you love when you get snail mail and there is a card that was unexpected? This is the reason why we chose Cards for our first link up! Be sure to read the rules and regulations if you are unsure on how to enter HERE. Midge Created this fun card and It makes me smile! A Baby Card, aren't those the best! The colors are simply adorable and I am loving the different layers. Here is my card! I love this fun step card. This is one of my favorites. The colors are fun, the camera and the Sentiment of Happy Birthday are way fun.
