National Craft Month Week 3

Hello friends! Welcome to the third week of National Craft Month!! Who is ready for this weeks link up? Me, Me Me!! I am so excited! Mixed Media is this weeks theme.

I must say that I love love love mixed media.  Many people are confused by what mixed media is, so I am going to give you the Wikipedia definition of Mixed Media.

Mixed media, in visual art, refers to an artwork in the making of which more than one medium has been employed.
There is an important distinction between "mixed-media" artworks and "multimedia art". Mixed media tends to refer to a work of visual art that combines various traditionally distinctvisual art media. For example, a work on canvas that combines paint, ink, and collage could properly be called a "mixed media" work, but not a work of "multimedia art." The termmultimedia art implies a broader scope than mixed media, combining visual art with non-visual elements (such as recorded sound, for example) or with elements of the other arts (such as literature, drama, dance, motion graphics, music, or interactivity).
When creating a painted or photographed work using mixed media it is important to choose the layers carefully and allow enough drying time between the layers to ensure the final work will have structural integrity. If many different media are used it is equally important to choose a sturdy foundation upon which the different layers are imposed.
Many effects can be achieved by using mixed media. Found objects can be used in conjunction with traditional artist media to attain a wide range of self-expression.
Some children's picture books also utilise mixed media illustrations. For example, 's Nachts by Wolf Erlbruch. Link found HERE.

My biggest piece of advice is to have fun, try new things, don't forget to create and enjoy it! Mixed Media does this for me.  I have fun, there is no wrong way to do mixed media, if you mess up start over or just keep adding different mediums, this happens to me all of the time.  Some of my best projects are mess ups at first then they end up turning into masterpieces.

Here is my Mixed Media Project that I am going to share with you.  I created this fun Mixed Media Mini Album out of an old book.  I created this for Create and Craft for the Tim Holtz Brand.  You can check out my blog post HERE

This was super fun to make.  I used an old book, Mod Podge, Spritz inks, Washi Tape, Metal Embellishments and more.

Here is Midge's Awesome Mixed Media Project! She also created this for Create and Craft USA.  The embellishments that she used are simply adorable and I must say I need this in my house!! What a fun way to do a mixed media marquee.

I love that she painted it gold, and used all of these medal embellishments, seriously isn't this darling?? So freakin cute right???

Show us what you've got friends, link up your mixed media projects below. Winner will be chosen at the end of the month!!
